It looks like a winner but many of us who use ROKU haven’t tried it yet.
As we reported yesterday…The latest from news direct from Filmstruck is that the service should be live on Chromecast on February 1, 2017 and they should release a specific start date for ROKU very soon after the Chromecast release event. Filmstruck started offering their service in November 2016 on a limited basis for a number of devices. The target date for availability of the service on ROKU devices not yet available but Filmstruck says to expect it in early spring of 2017. Later in 2017 expect availability of Filmstruck on PS4 and XBOX One.
Filmstruck will offer independent films, art-house films and international classics. More specifically expect a large selection from TCM (Turner Classic Movies) movies and extraordinary films The Criterion Collection. TCM is now the exclusive streaming source of The Criterion Collection in the US. Criterion is a home video company that repackages “important classic and contemporary films” often including bonus features such as director interviews, commentary tracks, and other features and are usually beautifully restored.
